WAIT… I Was on a Podcast?! 🎙️

I have some exciting news to share… I was recently a guest on the Quilting on the Side podcast!

This conversation was such a fun experience because we talked about the REAL behind-the-scenes of building Brooke’s Bitchin’ Stitches — not just the finished quilts and pretty fabric pulls, but the hard work, organization, creativity, and relationships that helped grow my business from a single quilt idea into a 50-state quilt pattern series.

One of my favorite parts of the interview was sharing how I actually started my business.

Spoiler alert: it wasn’t through viral social media posts or fancy marketing strategies.

I started Brooke’s Bitchin’ Stitches the old-fashioned way — walking into quilt shops face-to-face, introducing myself, sharing my passion for quilting, and pitching my very first pixelated Michigan quilt pattern with absolutely zero sales experience.

Just determination, relationships, and a dream that somehow turned into a full quilting business.

From Grid Paper to a Quilt Pattern Business

During the episode, Tori and I talked about how a simple doodle on grid paper became the foundation for my Home Pattern Series and eventually a growing quilting business.

We also chatted about:

  • How my bestselling Jeep quilt pattern, Duck, Duck, Beep, came to life

  • Balancing a full-time career as a mechanical engineer and project manager while running a creative business

  • The systems and organization strategies I use to keep everything moving smoothly

  • Managing a cross-country move from North Carolina to Michigan while continuing to show up for customers

  • Why you do NOT need to “master” social media to build a successful quilt pattern business

As someone who works full-time while also running Brooke’s Bitchin’ Stitches, I wanted this conversation to feel honest and relatable for creatives balancing careers, businesses, family, and life all at once.

Creativity + Structure = My Secret Sauce

One thing we discussed during the podcast is how much my engineering and project management background impacts the way I run my business.

While quilting is creative, running a business also requires systems, planning, communication, and discipline. I truly believe my corporate background has helped me stay organized and continue growing Brooke’s Bitchin’ Stitches in a sustainable way.

And yes… there are absolutely moments of chaos too. 😅

But through all of it, quilting has remained my creative outlet and passion.

A Huge Thank You

A huge thank you to Tori and Quilting on the Side for having me on the podcast. This was honestly one of my favorite interviews I’ve ever done because the conversation felt genuine, encouraging, and real.

If you’ve ever dreamed about starting a creative business, designing quilt patterns, teaching classes, or simply finding a way to balance creativity with everyday life, I think you’ll really enjoy this episode.

You can listen to the episode now on your favorite podcast platform!

And if you tune in, I’d love to hear what part resonated with you most.

Happy quilting,

Brooke
