Brooke’s Bitchin’ Road Trip: Stop #9 – The Peach State - Georgia Pixelated Quilt Pattern 🍑

Hey friends!

We’ve made it to our ninth stop on the Brooke’s Bitchin’ Virtual Road Trip, and this week we’re heading down South to The Peach State—Georgia! 🍑

Having lived in the South for several years now, Georgia has always been one of my favorite places to visit. As a city girl, I love the buzz of Atlanta. From food to history to pop culture, there’s no shortage of things to explore.

A few years ago, my husband and I made a weekend trip to Atlanta and visited two must-see attractions:

👉 The Georgia Aquarium – the sea otters and penguins were my absolute faves!

👉 The World of Coca-Cola – as a Diet Coke addict (yes, it’s my version of coffee), I loved learning the history of my favorite fizzy pop.

Whether you're traveling solo, with family, or with quilting friends, Georgia has something for everyone. Here are a few more fun stops to consider on your next trip:

✨ Fun Georgia Travel Ideas:

  • Savannah’s Historic District – cobblestone streets, Spanish moss, and Southern charm

  • Callaway Gardens – beautiful blooms and butterflies galore

  • Blue Ridge Scenic Railway – perfect for fall leaf peeping

  • Tybee Island – a relaxed beach town just a short drive from Savannah

🧵 The Peach State Quilt Pattern Inspiration:

This pattern is part of my Home Pattern Series, which features pixelated quilt designs that celebrate the unique beauty of each U.S. state.

For The Peach State quilt, I was inspired by Georgia’s warm tones and soft Southern charm. I chose a palette of peach, gray, green, and white for the cover quilt to reflect the feeling of walking through a Georgia orchard at sunset.

And because I’m all about the details… the backing fabric features adorable little peaches—a sweet finishing touch that brings the whole theme home!

💡 Fabric Tips & Ideas:

  • Mix pastels and neutrals for a soft, breezy Southern vibe

  • Add sage green or charcoal gray solids to balance out the warmth

  • Look for a fruit- or orchard-themed backing to tie it all together

  • If you’re feeling bold, swap in richer corals or oranges for more pop!

🍑 Fun Facts About Georgia:

  • Georgia grows more pecans and peanuts than peaches—but it still wears the "Peach State" title proudly.

  • The state is home to over 50,000 farms!

  • It has nine different climate zones, ranging from coastal to mountain regions.

  • Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is one of the busiest in the world.

  • Famous Georgians include Martin Luther King Jr., Ray Charles, and Julia Roberts.

I hope The Peach State quilt brings a little slice of Southern sweetness to your sewing room. Whether you’ve lived in Georgia, visited a time or two, or just admire its charm from afar, this pattern is designed to help you stitch a little bit of "home" into your quilting journey.
