Welcome back, friends! This week on Brooke’s Bitchin’ Road Trip, we’re heading to one of the dreamiest corners of New England — Vermont, affectionately known as The Green Mountain State. With its lush rolling hills, charming covered bridges, cozy small towns, and maple-scented air, Vermont feels like a warm hug wrapped in flannel. And of course…it inspired one of my favorite patterns in the Home Pattern Series!
🌲 Quilt Inspiration: The Green Mountain State Pattern
When designing the Green Mountain State Quilt Pattern, I knew immediately that green would take center stage. From soft sage to deep evergreen, the color palette reflects:
Vermont’s iconic Green Mountains
Its rich forest landscapes
The peaceful, nature-forward spirit of the state
Like every quilt in my Home Pattern Series, this design includes:
✨ A throw-size quilt
✨ Two mini quilt designs
✨ Step-by-step instructions
✨ Appliqué templates
✨ And a special appliqué heart so you can mark your hometown (or the place you wish was home!)
Whether you prefer a modern sage-and-cream look or a bold batik green palette, this pattern is incredibly customizable — and a beautiful tribute to Vermont.
And don’t forget…

🍁 Stowe: A storybook-perfect destination. Visit for fall foliage, winter skiing, breathtaking mountain trails, and the famous Trapp Family Lodge.
🌉 Woodstock: Home to one of the most photographed covered bridges in the U.S. (Middle Covered Bridge). It’s the definition of New England charm.
🍦 Ben & Jerry’s Factory — Waterbury: Ice cream lovers, rejoice! Take a factory tour, grab samples, and stop by the quirky Flavor Graveyard.
🧀 Cabot Creamery Visitor Center: Sample some of the best cheeses in the country — a quilter’s ideal snack break.
🌅 Lake Champlain: A beautiful mix of mountain views, waterfront parks, and scenic trails.
🚂 Green Mountain Railroad: Take a leisurely train ride through forests, farmland, and river valleys — tons of quilt inspiration in every scene.
🧶 Fabric Tips & Ideas for Your Vermont Quilt
Want to bring Vermont’s personality into your quilt? Try these creative ideas:
🍃 Go ombré: Blend light to dark greens to mimic the layered look of mountain ranges.
🌲 Pick nature textures: Think pine needles, bark, leaves, ferns, mossy batiks, tiny florals — anything that says wilderness.
🍁 Add a hint of fall: Vermont is famous for its autumn colors. Add pops of red, burnt orange, or gold to your heart appliqué or binding.
🪵 Try minimalist rustic: Sage, olive, cream, and soft tan fabrics create a modern farmhouse Vermont vibe.
🎨 Fussy cut for fun: Use prints with:
bears
moose
maple leaves
mountain motifs
woodgrain
These small touches make your quilt uniquely yours!
