Rest Stop Sneak Peek: Behind the Seams of My New Quilt Pattern

Hey there, quilting friends —

Welcome to another Rest Stop on our Brooke’s Bitchin’ Road Trip! If you’re new here, Rest Stops are those special breaks in between state releases where I take you behind the seams of what’s happening in my studio — and let me tell you, this week’s stop is full of excitement.

Because I’m working on something new. And I mean brand new.

I’m thrilled to give you a sneak peek of the next pixelated quilt pattern coming your way — with a full reveal coming late June or early July! 🎉

Sneak Peak of my New Quilt Pattern

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been deep in design mode, bringing this new creation to life step by step. Here’s a look at the process (and yes, my studio has been a glorious mess of fabric scraps, grid sheets, and teal threads — just how I like it!):

✂️ Fabric Cutting — With a Little Help From My Quilting Sidekick

Let’s hear it for husbands who quilt-by-association! 😄Eric (a.k.a. my studio sidekick) took on the job of cutting every single fabric square using my AccuQuilt Studio Cutter. Not only did it save me hours of rotary cutting time, but it also made the entire process way more efficient — and honestly kind of fun with a partner in the room.

🎨 Project Bag Organization — A Pixel Quilter’s Secret Weapon

With hundreds of little squares involved in any pixelated quilt, organization is everything. I grouped all my precut pieces into clear project bags sorted by color. That way, when I’m fusing and sewing, I can grab exactly what I need — gray? Done. Teal? Ready. Black? Already labeled.

This system keeps my workspace clear and helps me avoid any “where did that piece go!?” panic moments mid-project (because we've all been there).

🔥 Fusing to Ten Sisters Grids — Because I Swear by These

Every single piece was fused to my go-to: Ten Sisters EasyPiecing Grids. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I use these for all of my pixelated quilt patterns. They keep everything lined up perfectly and take the stress out of keeping seams straight and rows square — a must when working with tiny squares and detailed pixel layouts.

Plus, they’re so satisfying to use. There’s something magical about watching a design slowly come to life, square by square, grid by grid.

🧵 Piecing It All Together

Once all the pieces were fused, I started stitching the squares in place, then joining each grid section together.

This part of the process always gets me in a flow — I love how the design begins to reveal itself bit by bit. It’s like watching a pixelated puzzle unfold in fabric. I may or may not have paused multiple times just to stare at it coming together! 😍

🚛 Off to the Longarmer – Then a Photo-Shoot Road Trip!

With the top complete, the quilt is now in the skilled hands of my longarm quilter. Once it returns, it’s going on a photo-shoot road trip with me to get some beautiful lifestyle shots that will be featured on the pattern cover and website. (Pro tip: always pack snacks and extra binding thread.)

🧡 The Big Reveal Is Coming Soon!

I can’t wait to share the finished quilt — and the full pattern — with you in just a few short weeks. It’s bold, modern, and full of personality (just the way I like it), and I hope you’ll love it as much as I’ve loved creating it.

Stay tuned right here on the blog — and make sure you’re subscribed to my newsletter — so you don’t miss the moment I roll out the official name, pattern cover, and release day!

Thanks for joining me at this Rest Stop. Whether we’re road-tripping through the states or stitching something brand new, your support means the world to me.

Until next time,

Happy quilting and happy trails,

Brooke
